Edinburgh West MP Christine Jardine today welcomed the news the Edinburgh Airport has had its busiest January ever.
Almost a million visitors used the airport last month, an increase of 7.1 per cent, mostly attributed to a boost in international flights and the launch of new routes by airlines including EasyJet and Ryanair.
The LibDem MP, whose constituency incudes the airport, described the total of more than 800,00 passengers as good news for the local economy:
“It’s great to see that international flights are bringing more tourists to Edinburg, that’s vital for our economy here and across Scotland,” she said.
“The figures also showed that Edinburgh is doing well in comparison to other Scottish airports and, with the current climate of uncertainty, its terrific to see the airport going from strength to strength.”
