Edinburgh West MP, Christine Jardine, has said she is “shocked and appalled” at the figures reported today by the Edinburgh Evening News stating that commuters had suffered a total of 121 days of lane closures on Queensferry Crossing last year.

The £1.35bn bridge has been plagued by roadworks since opening in August 2017, with the situation looking unlikely to improve with 57 days of restrictions reported in the first half of this year.

Ms Jardine said:

“Commuters have been suffering for far too long because of the negligence of people in charge.

“I am shocked and appalled that my constituents’ day to day lives are being impacted in this way due to shoddy forward planning.

“And quite frankly it’s ludicrous that the SNP/Labour led Council in Edinburgh has allowed this situation to get so out of hand.”
