Responding to news that the Royal Bank of Scotland would move its head offices from Edinburgh to England if Scotland becomes independent, Edinburgh West MP Christine Jardine said:
“The news today underlines just how much the SNP is willing to put at risk for the sake of their political obsession with independence.
“They’re playing with the livelihoods of thousands of people who stand to lose their jobs here in Edinburgh West.
“If the Brexit chaos has taught us anything, it’s the danger of following nationalist fixations.
“If RBS would move south of the border in the event of independence, surely many more companies would do the same.
“The impact of this on the livelihoods of my constituents and many more people across Scotland could be catastrophic.”
