JARDINE PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR LOCAL BUSINESS FOLLOWING BOOTS REDUNDANCIES

After the announcement that Boots is set to cut 4,000 jobs across the country due to the economic impact of covid-19, Christine Jardine, Liberal Democrat MP for Edinburgh West, said:

“This is an extremely difficult day for Boots employees who now face an uncertain future, and is yet another blow to Edinburgh’s economic recovery from Covid-19.

“I’ll be writing to Boots management, as well as speaking to the unions about the impact on local shops across Edinburgh West.

"I've already had assurances that there are currently no plans to cut jobs in Edinburgh, but will continue to monitor the situation closely.

"I will do everything possible to provide the fullest support to businesses across the constituency during this difficult time.”
