MILLENIALS WAITING A MILLENNIUM FOR FAIRER FARES

Edinburgh West MP, Christine Jardine, has today tabled a motion to Parliament calling for a delay to the introduction of a young persons' rail card to be reversed. 
 
In his 2017 budget speech, the Chancellor announced that a new 26 - 30 'Millennials' rail card would be introduced to give holders a 1/3 discount on rail fares nationwide. 
 
Following a series of delays, the Rail Delivery Group had promised that the railcard would be rolled out by the end of this year. However, it was revealed today that the card would now be introduced to coincide with a 3.1% average fare increase on 2 January 2019.
